David M. Guernsey currently serves as President and CEO of Guernsey, Incorporated; a family owned business (since 1971) that operates primarily in the mid-Atlantic region. The Guernsey organization provides its public and private sector customers with office furnishings, office supplies, break room products, janitorial and facilities products and related services.  Detail on the Guernsey organization can be found at www.buyguernsey.com and www.interiorsbyguernsey.com.

 

David Guernsey previously served as director and Vice Chairman of Virginia Commerce Bank (VCBI) which was acquired by United Bank (UBSI). He currently serves as a director of Comstock Companies (CHCI), a locally headquartered public company.

 

Community service (past) roles Guernsey has held include Chairman of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, and Chairman of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce. He currently serves on the board of several local organizations.

 

Industry roles (past) include Chairman of the National Office Products Association, Chairman of Business Products Group International, and Chairman of Independent Stationers, Inc., Chairman of Pinnacle Affiliates, LLC and Chairman of Independent Supplier Group.

 

Following his passion for small business advocacy, Guernsey served from 2013 - 2015 as Chairman of the Board for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB).

 

A few examples of the awards Guernsey has received in his business career would be Community Trustee (LFI, Northern Virginia Leadership Award), Torch of Liberty Award (ADL, Office Products Industry), and Virginia’s Small Business Person of The Year Award (SBA). Most recently, Guernsey was presented the 2022 NAOPA Industry Achievement Award.

 

Guernsey lives in Clifton, Virginia with his wife, Diane, and the family pet, Sophie.  After college and a stint with Price Waterhouse, their daughter, Savannah, spent five years in the family business. Savannah finished grad school at UVA/Darden and now lives in Washington, D.C. working for Ernst and Young as a consultant.
