GO Virginia Region 7 (Northern Virginia) Announces New Leadership Team

Fairfax, VA – GO Virginia Region 7, which encompasses the Northern Virginia region, announces the appointment of its new leadership team. The following are the positions confirmed during its most recent board meeting:

Chairman, Raul “Danny” Vargas: President of VARCom Solutions (an award-winning marketing, public relations, and professional services firm), Chairman of Virginia Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, former Chairman of the Virginia Board of Workforce Development, former Chairman of the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce and former Chairman of Leadership Fairfax. He is a former executive at AOL and France Telecom and is a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Vice Chairman, Paul Liberty: Vice President, Government and Community Relations, George Mason University. Also chairs the council’s Governance & Nominations Committee. He is a former executive at GTSI, McGuire Woods Capital Group, MetroCall, Inc., and Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce.

Treasurer, Hon. Marty Nohe: President of Appliance Connection, former Supervisor in Prince William Board of Supervisors, former Chairman of Northern Virginia Transportation Authority, former Chairman of Northern Virginia Regional Commission

• Secretary, Buddy Rizer: Executive Director, Loudoun County Economic Development Authority and Chair of the Northern Virginia Economic Development Alliance. Board Chair of the Northern Virginia Community College Foundation and board member of the Northern Virginia Technology Council.

Project Committee Chair, Sumeet Shrivastava: Former Chairman/CEO of ARRAY (now part of CGI Federal), former SVP at Keane (now NTT Data) and former COO of ANSTEC. Currently President of TiE DC, Vice Chair of the GMU Foundation Board of Trustees, member of Mason’s President’s Innovation Advisory Council, the Business School Dean’s Advisory Council and helped launch the Center for Government Contracting and the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Education and Outreach Chair, Scott Price: Regional Policy Director, Dominion Energy. Former Regional Director for Senator Mark Warmer and former Executive Director, Virginia High-Tech Partnership.

“We are truly excited to build upon the excellent efforts of the council over the years and the important programs that have been funded,” stated Danny Vargas, GO Virginia Region 7 chair. He added, “Looking ahead, we will explore new ways to have as broad a positive impact as possible on our region’s economy and its people, while we help contribute to an environment where all can succeed and thrive.”

Region 7 also welcomes the following new council members who are passionate about making a difference:

Sonja Caison, Franchise Owner, The Cleaning Authority

Francisco Duran, Superintendent, Arlington Council Public Schools

Hesham El-Rewini, Provost and Senior VP of Academic Affairs, Marymount University

Tina Leone, Chief Executive Officer, Ballston BID
