Ralph M. Buona is Telos Corporation’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Business Development, where he is responsible for overseeing the expansion of each Telos business unit through the acquisition of new opportunities. Prior to assuming this position, he was the Vice President and General Manager of Telos Managed Solutions where he managed the $120 million Managed Solutions Division of Telos. He joined Telos in 1994 and has also served in a variety of roles, including Vice President of Product Development, cultivating new offerings in the areas of information operations/assurance, enterprise management, enterprise integration, wireless networking, advanced messaging and traditional systems integration.
Ralph Buona was elected to represent the Ashburn District on the Board of Supervisors in November 2011 and was re-elected in 2015. He was re-elected Vice Chairman in January 2018, a position he has held since 2015. He was a member of the Board's Finance/Government Operations and Economic Development Committee, having previously served as chairman of the former Finance/Government Services and Operations Committee. He was co-chairman of the Joint Board of Supervisors/School Board Committee.
In addition to those committees, he represents Loudoun County on the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority's Planning Coordination Advisory Committee, of which he was Chairman, and was the Board's representative on the Loudoun County Fiscal Impact Committee, the Other Post-employment Benefits Investment Committee and the Length of Service Awards Program Committee.
Before joining Telos, he served in numerous management and executive positions with Cincinnati Bell Information Systems, Federal Information Technologies, and Contel Information Systems. He began his career as an Air Force Officer, concluding his military service at AirForce Space Command and NORAD, where he was responsible for managing software development and information assurance activities associated with the advanced early warning missile defense systems. He earned a B.S. in Management from the U.S. Air Force Academy and an M.S. in Systems Management from the University of Southern California.
He is also active in numerous trade organizations such as the Homeland Security and Defense Business Council, the Air Force Association, the Navy League, the Army Association, and the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association.
He has served on the Board of Directors of the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce since 2005, serving as Chairman of the Board in 2010. He also was appointed to the Loudoun County Economic Development Commission in 2010 and has been a member of the Loudoun County CEO Cabinet. Additionally, he served on the Route 7 Task Force, developing solutionsto the corridor’s transportation challenges.
He has served on the Good Scout awards committee which raises significant funds for the Goose Creek District of the Boy Scouts, participates in the Loudoun Chamber’s non-profit initiative, and works with and supports numerous local charities such as Loudoun Cares and Loudoun Inter-Faith Relief.
