
T.J. Maloney
Principal, Virginia Public Policy, Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Thomas J. (“T.J.”) Maloney is a principal on the public policy team at Amazon Web Services (AWS), focused on building relationships with policymakers in Virginia localities hosting data center infrastructure. He coordinates external engagement strategy with economic development, workforce development, operations, and legal counterparts. From 2021-2023, T.J. led state and local public policy efforts for Amazon.com in support of retail operations and expansion in the mid-Atlantic region.
Previously, he served as Senior Vice President, Policy & External Affairs at the Greater Washington Partnership, an association of large companies, universities, and nonprofits in the DMV region championing economic development. His work advanced priorities in transportation and inclusive economic growth, including efforts to support diverse entrepreneurs through capacity-building programs.​​ He also spent nearly 10 years leading state and federal government affairs at Marriott International in Bethesda, Maryland. T.J. has served on the board of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, is an alum of the Federal City Council’s Emerging Leaders Program, and is a multi-year volunteer with Reading Partners in D.C. Public Schools.
In the public sector, T.J. served as counsel to U.S Senator Jeanne Shaheen and at-large Councilmember Christina Henderson in the District of Columbia. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Boston College Law School.
