Thomas A. Gibson currently serves as Vice President of Development for Stratford Capital Group in Washington, D.C.

 

With extensive experience in both the private and public sectors, Mr. Gibson is a leader in affordable housing advocacy, urban innovation,and veteran issues. His career in real estate development has involved complex multifamily developments including mixed-income,mixed-use, and market-rate properties. Through public-private partnerships, Mr. Gibson has developed a background that spans a broad set of experience including complex financing structures, transit-oriented development, the adaptive reuse of historic structures, and the use of green building strategies. As an Advisory Board Member to Empower Equity, a leader in the energy efficiency startup arena, he is helping to drive innovation in this industry. As a former artillery officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Gibson has served in various leadership capacities both at home and abroad.

 

Mr. Gibson has been appointed by the Governor of Virginia, Arlington County Board, and City Council of Alexandria to various boards and commissions serving Northern Virginia and the Commonwealth. Currently, Mr. Gibson serves on the boards of the Virginia Housing Development Authority, Alexandria Economic Opportunities Commission, Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization, New Hope Housing, and the Military Advisory Board for the United Soldiers and Sailors of America. An avid participant in the Washington, D.C. chapter of the Urban Land Institute, Mr. Gibson has served on several youth leadership committees and the Regionalism Initiative Council.

 

Mr. Gibson has completed studies at Oxford University and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia, a master’s degree in real estate finance from Georgetown University, and is an Executive MBA candidate at Cornell University. He holds professional certifications from both the U.S. Green Building Council and the Project Management Institute.
