GO Virginia Region 7 Announces New Managing Director

The GO Virginia Region 7 Council is thrilled to announce Lisa Shapiro, M.Ed. as the new Lead Managing Director of the GO Virginia Region 7 Council, where she will spearhead strategic initiatives to support regional economic growth and innovation across Northern Virginia.

With a background in entrepreneurship, program development, and stakeholder engagement, Lisa has led impactful initiatives at George Mason University over the last five years, including student accelerators, commercialization programs, and regional pitch events, including the Accelerate Breakfast Series. She previously supported Virginia-based startups through Virginia’s Innovation Commercialization Assistance Program (ICAP) and founded a member organization for women entrepreneurs in the DC area. Lisa holds a BA in Psychology and a Master’s in Education from George Mason University.

My focus will be on advancing projects that address immediate economic challenges while also positioning our region for future long-term success.", Lisa said.

Lisa is replacing Susan Baker, who recently retired after serving 5 and a half years in the role. We extend our deepest gratitude to Susan for her extraordinary commitment and dedication to our region and welcome Lisa, whose background and experiences will only enhance all the great work done before her.
